animal friends
Muttscomics.com supports all organizations that dedicate their work to
animal and environmental causes.
Although we can't link to ALL the amazing organizations that exist,
here are a few:

Greenpeace
Greenpeace is a non-profit organisation, with a presence in 40 countries across
Europe, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific. As a global organisation, Greenpeace
focuses on the most crucial worldwide threats to our planet's biodiversity and
environment.
Wildlife
Conservation Society
Through international conservation efforts, education, and management of the
world's largest system of urban wildlife parks, the WCS works to save wildlife
and wild lands. Visit their site, and adopt a tiger!
The
Humane Society of the United States
The HSUS is dedicated to creating
a world where our relationship with
animals
is
guided by compassion.
They seek a truly humane society in which
animals are respected for their intrinsic
value, and
where the human-animal bond is strong.
HSUS Hollywood Office (formerly The Ark Trust)
The Humane Society of the United States Hollywood Office is singularly devoted to raising awareness of animal protection issues. Their primary focus is to promote and monitor coverage of animal issues by the major media. By interacting with writers, reporters, actors and producers, The HSUS Hollywood Office activates the power of the major news and entertainment industries to influence opinions and encourage positive behavior that will ultimately lead to a more humane and compassionate society.
Patrick is the recipient of two Genesis Awards and two Commendations from the Ark Trust/HSUS Hollywood Office.
American
Forests
helps people improve the environment with trees and forests. It is a
world leader in tree planting for environmental restoration, a pioneer in advancing
the science and practice of urban forestry and a primary communicator of the
benefits of trees and forests. Muttscomics.com is joining American Forests in
their mission to make the world a little more green for the Siberian tiger. Every
time you purchase a print, Muttscomics will donate $1 to plant a tree through
American Forests' "Trees for Tigers" program.
North Shore Animal League
Since 1944, the North Shore Animal League has placed more than 800,000 lost or abandoned pets in loving homes. Patrick will be featured in a Public Service Announcement print ad for NSAL in the near future.
Wildlife Land Trust
Protecting wild animals by protecting where they live.
People
for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
Founded in 1980, PETA is dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. They operate under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment.
PetFinder
Petfinder's mission: to use Internet technology and the
resources it can generate to 1) increase public awareness
of the availability of high-quality adoptable pets and to
2) increase the overall effectiveness of pet adoption programs
across North America to the extent that the euthanasia of
adoptable pets is eliminated. PetFinder is a great site to
find an adoptable pet and also to find a nearby shelter where
you can volunteer or become a foster animal guardian.
Art
for Animals
Art for animals "rescues the rescuers so they can do
their work." They offer emergency and long-term support
to rescue organizations and individual caregivers.
Empty
Cages
The "International Compassionate Living Festival" is a conference held
annually
by the Culture & Animals
Foundation and the Institute
For Animals & Safety. Inspired by Tom Regan's book, Empty
Cages, this conference brings together artists, eminent scholars, movement
leaders and grassroots activists for three days of inspiration, education and
exploration in an atmosphere of mutual respect for all viewpoints. Patrick McDonnell
will be a special guest speaker at this year's conference.
New
Jersey Mutts License Plates
The friendship between a pet and its owner is exceptional.
When
your pet greets you, you can feel the warmth, trust and
love. New Jersey motorists can help other people and
pets feel this friendship by purchasing
the special animal welfare Mutts license plate. Funds
from the sale of the plate will benefit the animal population
control fund.
The Pegasus Foundation
The Pegasus Foundation improves the welfare of wild and domestic animals in the United States,
the Caribbean, on Native American lands and in Kenya by reducing animal suffering and
overpopulation, and by protecting wildlife habitats. The Foundation believes that all forms of
life warrant compassion and respect, and that human beings must strive for a world that is humane
for all living things.
Roots & Shoots
Founded in 1991 by Dr. Jane Goodall and a group of Tanzanian students, the Roots & Shoots program is about making positive change happen—for our communities, for animals and for the environment. With tens of thousands of young people in almost 100 countries, the Roots & Shoots network branches out across the globe, connecting youth of all ages who share a common desire to help make the world a better place. Roots & Shoots fosters a fun, flexible and supportive environment where young people and adults alike come together to share ideas and inspiration, implement community service projects and participate in special events and global campaigns. |
